Terms of use
Last updated: 2026-06-01. Plain-language summary of the rules below; formal document still in legal review (see callout).
Heads up: a formal terms-of-use document is being prepared with legal review. The summary below describes how the site is intended to be used and what we'll act on. If you need anything in writing, contact us.
Be honest
Submit deals you genuinely think are good. Don't pad prices, invent discounts, or post things you're trying to sell yourself unless that's clearly disclosed.
User-submitted affiliate / referral links
We auto-strip tracking parameters and reject known shorteners (bit.ly, amzn.to, etc) on user submissions. Submitting a deal with the explicit goal of routing other users through your personal referral link is grounds for a ban.
DealHive's own affiliate links
Separately, DealHive may attach affiliate URLs to deals as a revenue source - this is part of how the site sustains its operations. Any deal with an affiliate link is labelled with a “Commission link” chip near the “Go to deal” button. Full detail of how they work, the editorial firewall between revenue and ranking, and how to bypass them is on the affiliate disclosure page.
No defamation, spam, harassment, or illegal content
Anything that targets another user or group, or that violates Australian law (defamation, incitement, content involving minors, etc.) will be removed and the account permanently banned.
Moderation
Admins can hide, delete, expire, or restore any deal or comment, and can suspend or ban accounts that break the rules above. Bans may be permanent or time-limited.
Reputation, badges, and contributor recognition
See the community rules page for current reputation values, badge tiers, perks per tier, anti-gaming policy, and the structure of our contributor recognition program. Values and program structure may be modified with notice. Recognition program participation is at our sole discretion. Reputation already earned is not clawed back if values change.
Commercial data use opt-in
If you opt in to commercial data use on the local deals settings page, you allow DealHive to use, share, license, or sell your activity data (cities you browse, categories you save, deals you click, click patterns, time-of-day usage) to commercial partners (advertisers, retailers, market researchers, press). This may take the form of aggregate insights reports, API access, custom partner reports, or other commercial products. DealHive retains discretion to expand the scope of commercial use over time as the business grows. You can withdraw consent any time on the settings page; the toggle takes effect immediately for future activity.
Personally identifying information requires separate consent. The opt-in above does not authorise sharing of information that directly identifies you (your email, full name, login activity, or deal history tied to your identity). If we ever propose to share that kind of information with a third party, we will ask for fresh, specific consent at that time.
Local geolocation (optional, opt-in)
The “Follow my location” feature on the local-deals settings page is optional and off by default. When on, your browser asks for permission to read your current coordinates and resolves them to a supported city code (e.g. “QLD-BNE”) inside your browser. Only the resolved city code is sent to our servers, never raw GPS coordinates. Disable the toggle to stop further updates. See the privacy policy for full detail.
No warranty on deals
We aggregate deals submitted by the community. Prices, stock, and availability change fast, and we don't guarantee that any listed deal is still valid when you click through. Verify before you buy.
Takedown requests
Retailers, rights-holders, and individuals named in a post or comment can request removal. See the takedown notice page for what to include.
Account deletion
You can request account + post deletion at any time via the contact form (subject “Account help”) from the address on file.
